Surgery - Cardiovascular Physician Assistant

Summary of RoleThis position is for an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant (PA) in Atlantic City, NJ. The role is inpatient/hospital-based, supporting cardiac surgery operations, daily rounding, and patient care coordination. The provider will work closely with the surgical team, performing first assist duties, procedures such as endoscopic vein harvesting, and managing patients in both ICU and floor settings. Dates / Schedule Start Date: ASAPCredentialing Timeframe: 60 daysCoverage Needed: Weekday, weekend, and night call (varied shifts)Weekday Schedule: Monday Friday, 8 10 hour in-house shiftsNight Call: 6:00 PM 6:00 AMWeekend Call: Friday 6:00 PM Monday 6:00 AM (rounding 7:00 AM 12:00 PM Saturday & Sunday)Average Patient Load: Operate on 2 patients/day; round on 5 12 patients/day (ICU + floor, includes consults) Job Details / Responsibilities Perform and assist with cardiac surgeries (first assist in OR)Retrieve vascular tissues for use as bypass conduits, including endoscopic retrievalInsert chest tubes and perform related surgical proceduresConduct daily rounds on ICU and floor patientsDiagnose and treat cardiac and thoracic illnessesOrder and interpret diagnostic testsWrite and manage prescriptionsCoordinate patient care with multidisciplinary teamsComplete documentation in Cerner EMR Required Skills & Qualifications Certifications: NCCPA, BLS, ACLS, CSRLicensure: Active New Jersey PA License (required; no time for licensing)Experience: Minimum 2 3 years in Cardiothoracic Surgery with demonstrated proficiency in:Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH)First Assist in Cardiac SurgeryEMR Experience: Cerner preferredOther:Must be able to handle both in-house and on-call responsibilitiesMileage/tolls reimbursed; lodging may be available for the right candidateCompensation structure includes weekday hourly rate, night call + callback, and weekend call with minimum 4 hours gratis included
