Gulf Specimen Marine Lab & Aquarium is seeking a full-time Office Administrator to join our team! This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety in their workday, has strong organizational skills, and wants to contribute to the mission of a hands-on, community-based marine science center.About Us:Gulf Specimen Marine Lab is a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring ocean stewardship through education and marine conservation. We’re one of the few working public aquariums in the U.S. that combines a biological supply company, a sea turtle rehabilitation center, and an educational facility. Our campus features live sharks, stingrays, sea turtles, octopuses, and touch tanks for visitors of all ages.Position Overview:This role blends front office duties with responsibilities in our aquarium gift shop and grant writing. You’ll be the first point of contact for many visitors, so we’re looking for someone who is friendly, professional, and eager to engage with the public.Gift Shop Duties Include:Greeting and checking in guests and tour groupsOperating the register and answering visitor questionsRestocking, organizing, and keeping the gift shop looking its bestReceiving shipments and managing inventoryLight lifting and occasional use of a step stool to access suppliesOffice Duties Include:Answering phones and responding to customer emailsAssisting with specimen and merchandise ordersWorking with QuickBooks, Shopify, Microsoft Word and ExcelSupporting the team with general administrative tasksWorking on grant proposals and researching grant opportunities. Ideal Candidate:Friendly and outgoing, with strong communication and customer service skillsOrganized, dependable, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environmentComfortable with light manual tasks and computer-based workRetail, front office, or administrative experience preferredInterest in marine life, education, or nonprofit work is a plus!Proven successful experience with grant writing.
