We are seeking a skilled professional with a deep understanding of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), virtualization technology, and Storage Area Networks (SAN) to join our IT team as a Systems Engineer II.
Stepping into this hands-on role, you will be an integral part of our IT team, responsible for ensuring the proper functionality, backup/replication and security of the entire virtual server infrastructure spanning across all Norway Savings Bank locations.
You’ll be involved with the installation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, and upgrades of all information systems, virtual environments, remote access infrastructure, and equipment including servers, operating systems, and software applications. You’ll also ensure that information security protection is functional and up to date.
Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to work within our strong team environment as well as independently on projects, and you’ll serve as an escalation point for IT system(s) technical issues, provide cross-training for team members, and will serve as a subject matter expert within technical project teams when needed.
This position would require 3-4 days of in-office time, providing a presence in both our Norway and Portland offices.
Essential Pieces of the Position:
Determine system specifications and design, implement, and plan software/hardware upgrades to the system infrastructure.
Monitors and maintains server backup and server disaster recovery systems.
Ensure software license compliance for the systems in the organization
Plans and performs Application and System upgrades/updates
Ensures all servers are fully functional and secure at all times.
Ensures all network security software applications are functioning correctly.
Escalates issues to appropriate staff and/or vendors as needed.
Responds to health and performance monitoring alerts for all systems.
Ensures all systems and hardware are up to date with regard to OS patches and vendor updates.
Maintain application servers including vendor updates and new software installations.
Continually practices proper security procedures with respect to Internet access, data access, anti-virus protection, user password protection, file system rights and permissions, and intrusion detection.
Evaluates, manages and implements vendor contracts and agreements to assure proper requirements and services are provided.
Works with other IT personnel in problem resolution and assists with level 2 help desk support requests.
Ensures compliance with established information security policies, procedures and regulations.
Keeps up to date with new IT technologies, methods and best practices.
Responsibilities may require evening and weekend work to meet the needs of systems being maintained or for trouble resolution.
What We’re Looking For:
Deep understanding of Virtualization Technology, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, and Storage Area Networks required.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Technology from an accredited college or equivalent work experience.
Understanding of Microsoft Server, Windows 10/11, Active Directory, Exchange, SQL, MS Office Suite, Azure Backup and Recovery Systems and AntiVirus software administration.
Preference will be given to candidates with technological certifications.
Troubleshooting skills required and excellent customer service skills
Familiarity with Banking Regulations and Cyber Security
Expert problem-solving, time management, multi-tasking, and creative thinking.
Must be able to work independently and in a team environment
Be flexible and willing to travel when needed
