A nationally ranked investment management firm in Whitefish is adding a Controller to its leadership team. This is a high-impact role where you'll own the full accounting function, support strategic decision-making, and help guide the financial direction of a long-standing Montana success story. What You'll Actually Do:
Own accounting operations including internal processes and external vendor relationships
Manage all QuickBooks activity: management fee revenue, expenses, journal entries, credit cards, and month/year-end workflows
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, tax filings, and reporting packages
Oversee payroll and benefits administration in partnership with outside accounting firm
Build financial models and projections for benchmarking, national ranking submissions, and internal planning
Coordinate employee benefits: onboarding, insurance renewals, 401(k) activities, and general employee support
Evaluate and improve internal controls, accounting processes, and compliance practice
Analyze trends and provide insights and recommendations to the Executive Team
Support strategic and entrepreneurial initiatives across the firm to ensure long-term stability and growth
To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Need:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA highly preferred
8-10 years of progressive accounting experience – Public accounting preferred
Independent, organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize and manage diverse responsibilities
Advanced Excel skills, with experience in QuickBooks, required
