This is a software architecture/development position reporting in the reporting chain of the CISO. Our team is responsible for the secure design and implementation of technology built for the onboard vehicle platform and the cloud services with which the vehicle communicates. In addition to contributing to the security architectural strategy, the team is involved in architecture reviews, reviewing and proposing threat models, security code reviews, and release-security for Aurora’s products. The focus of this team however, is the design and development of new security frameworks and technologies for our autonomous vehicle platform.In this role you willDesign/Architect systems to support Aurora’s security goals in fulfilling its Safety Case.Lead the implementation (hands on) of Aurora’s vehicle security systems or cloud systems that support the security of Auror’s vehicles.Lead successful integration of security capabilities and components with partner teamsWork with Vehicle Platform partners and OEMs and ensure successful security integration into the Aurora Driver platformGuide and mentor both security and non-security engineers Required QualificationsBS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.Ability and desire to write production-quality code in C++, and GolangAbility to work effectively with other software engineers on design and codeAbility to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiencesTranslate product requirements into code independentlyAble to write high quality production code, unit tests, integration testsAble to debug across module boundariesFamiliarity with and Ability to implement best practices related to cryptographic protocols, infrastructure and network securityAbility to translate company goals into product requirementsAble to lead a team and organize projects in order to deliver desired outcomeAble to work cross functionally with other teamsMinimum 2 years of experience in a security-specific or security-adjacent industryMinimum 10 years of development in a software engineering environmentDesirable QualificationsExperience evaluating the security of software and servicesFoundational knowledge of embedded firmware security and hardware security, preferably in the robotics or automotive spaceFamiliarity working with or developing fuzzersFamiliarity with cloud security (AWS) and infrastructure-as-codeFamiliarity with Trusted Platform Modules, HSMs, and trusted bootA history of giving back to the security industry via open source contributions, published papers, or conference presentationsThe base salary range for this position is $212,000 - $307,000 per Year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
