Fellow - BOLD Prevention Fellowship Program
AdCare Educational Institute of Maine, Inc. is seeking to hire a highly-motivated individual into a Prevention Fellowship Program being implemented through its New England Prevention Technology Transfer Center (PTTC) program. This one-year fellowship, funded by SAMHSA, is part of a national fellowship program working to train and sustain a well-trained and knowledgeable cadre of prevention professionals who understand and exemplify the principles and best practices of substance use prevention.
The New England PTTC’s Building Our Leadership and Diversity (BOLD) Prevention Fellowship Program is focused on increasing the number of prevention professionals working within Black/African American communities and building their capacity to identify and chronicle programs, practices, and policies proven effective in reducing substance misuse risk factors and consequences and promoting mental health and protective factors or assets in Black/African American communities.
This is a paid full-time, one-year fellowship that will work directly with the New England PTTC staff regionally. Fellows will work on projects as assigned and will also have a portion of their time dedicated to activities coordinated by the National Prevention Technology Transfer Center (PTTC) network. The BOLD Fellow will receive mentorship from prevention staff at the New England PTTC as well as through the BOLD Fellowship Cohort which will meet and study together regularly virtually, as well as several times in person. The Fellows workplan will be guided by their previous and current experiences and the expertise they bring to the field of prevention.
Duties and tasks include:
Assist with planning and development of prevention training in the New England region
Assist with Technical Assistance requests
Assist with Cultural Responsiveness scans and adaptions to regional work
Representing New England PTTC at partner events, meetings, and conferences
Participating in the schedule of BOLD Fellows prevention science trainings and cohort activities
Participating in a cohort research project to support prevention in Black or African American communities.
Other duties as assigned by AdCare/New England PTTC Director or Co-Director
Education: Minimum of an Associate’s Degree but also appropriate for Bachelor and Master’s level students, preference in fields of public health, behavioral health, and related fields.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Strongly qualified candidates will have the following experience:
Project management
A strong customer service orientation along with demonstrated success in building professional relationships and working effectively with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
Excellent written, oral, and digital communication skills.
Ability to research and synthesize information in both written, oral, and digital form.
Ability to work independently and effectively under general supervision.
Excellent time management and attention to detail.
Initiative and creativity on the job along with the ability to problem solve.

Experience & Skills:
Experience in substance misuse prevention.
Experience working or volunteering in Black/African American communities
Demonstrate a commitment to understanding and learning how to provide services that are culturally responsive for Black/African American communities in order to increase wellness and decrease health inequity.
Travel: Occasional statewide travel within New England required along with out-of-state travel for PTTC Network Fellows cohort trainings held in locations-to-be-determined within the United States.
Technical requirements: Position will work with the New England PTTC team, located in Augusta, Maine. A regular physical presence in the Augusta, Maine office is preferred, but given the limited term of this position (1 year, ending September 29, 2025) hybrid or fully remote work may be considered for ideal candidates. Reliable internet service is required for attending staff meetings, hosting, or attending virtual training sessions, meetings, and other outreach.
Supervision: Position reports to the New England PTTC Co-Director.
Physical requirements: Must be able to lift and move a maximum of 40lbs.; position requires sitting, standing, bending, and repetitive movements.
