TAPS Coordinator
The University of Lynchburg, a private regional university, located in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in central Virginia is seeking a part-time Teen and Police Services (TAPS) Coordinator to join our Center for Leadership team.The Teen And Police Academy provides solutions that work to build and improve relationships between youth and law enforcement through programming, education, skill building, and service learning.The TAPS Coordinator reports to, is supervised by, and evaluated by the Program Director. The evaluation of work performance will be ongoing and will be carried out by the Program Director. It will include the specific duties and responsibilities of this position description plus employee attitude and general working behavior.Job Type: Part-time, non-benefits eligible (two-year, grant-funded position)Work Remotely: NoJob Purpose: To assist the TAPS/Good Gangs Initiative team in the coordination of the TAPS Academy and TAPS Club activities in cooperation with the Lynchburg Police Department; to supervise four police instructor/mentors.Specific Job DutiesImplement Teen and Police Service (TAPS) Academy program and meet deliverables as sub-grantee for OJJDP Mentoring Grant.Serve as civilian supervisor for four police instructor/mentors for TAPS 11-week course for three cohorts over a two-year period.Each cohort is approximately 30 weeks each: TAPS Academy (11 weeks) and TAPS Clubs (19 weeks).
