Provides wound care and splints as required. Provide a safe, clean environment and stocks patient care areas. Ensures adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups.Detailed responsibilities:PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocolsTRANSPORT - Transport patients to other units or to in-patient testing areasDEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshopsPATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processesPATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue riskPATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely mannerPOLICY & PROCEDURE - Follow established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standardsRECORDS & SUPPORT - Maintain record keeping and filing system; make photocopies; run errands; perform other support duties as assignedTRANSPORT - Transport patients, collect, label and transport specimens, equipment, supplies, charts and materials to include arterial blood gas specimensPATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"PATIENT CARE - Clean patient care rooms, equipment and instruments; report equipment problems; order and store supplies; maintain appropriate PAR levelsPATIENT CARE - Assist nursing staff/physicians in complicated treatment procedures; perform routine treatment proceduresPATIENT CARE - Identify and assess clinical situations beyond their scope and promptly notifies a nurse and/or physicianEQUIPMENT - Assist with the provision of administrative support in regards to equipment maintenance, calibration and statistical data compilationASSIST - Assist the nurse in the management of observation unit patientsCUSTOMER RELATIONS - Establish and maintain good rapport and effective working relationships with patients, visitors, physicians and Hospitals employeesWOUND CARE - Complete wound care process according to medical protocol under the direct supervision of RN or physicianPERFORM - Perform dispatch duties as requiredPATIENT CARE - Provide oxygen therapy, I.V. setup, catheterization, apply cardiac monitor and other duties as assigned under the supervision of RN or attending physician as requested QualificationsEducation:Essential:High School or GED EquivalentEnrolledEducation specialization:Essential:EMT-I or Paramedic Program w/in 6 Months of PositionExperience:Essential:No minimum experience requiredNonessential:Bilingual English/Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo 1/2 year (6 months) directly related experienceCredentials:Essential:CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 daysEmergency Medical Technician Basic LicensePhysical Conditions:Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people.
