SQL Database Engineer - W2 Role

Job Title: SQL Database Engineer - W2 Role Location: Phoenix, AZ – Onsite 5 DaysRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.3-5 years of experience in database engineering, database design, data architecture, or a similar technical role.Strong proficiency in SQL and experience designing relational database structures.Experience with data Modeling concepts for transactional and analytical systems.Hands-on experience with database performance tuning, indexing strategies, query optimization, and troubleshooting.Knowledge of database security, backup and recovery practices, and change management.Experience supporting ETL/ELT processes, data migrations, or system integrations.Ability to document technical designs clearly and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a collaborative team environment.Preferred QualificationsExperience working in financial services, lending, fintech, or other regulated environments.Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and modern data warehousing concepts.Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, or similar enterprise database platforms.Exposure to Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar work management tools.Experience supporting reporting, analytics, or business intelligence initiatives.Knowledge of data governance, audit readiness, and sensitive data handling best practices.
