EHS Specialist

The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for leading, developing, and sustaining all environmental, health, and safety programs for the site. This role ensures compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations while proactively driving a strong safety culture that protects employees, supports operational excellence, and aligns with company and customer requirements, including IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 standards.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Daily plant floor walks to monitor housekeeping and record any safety-related issues. Develop, conduct and/or coordinate training related to EHS. Handle work related injuries to include first aid & clinic authorization. Accident / Incident Investigation and follow-up, ensuring proper documentation is complete to include accident report, root cause analysis and corrective action. Report all recordable injuries to workers’ compensation, follow-up and review cases as required to close claims in an efficient and timely manner. OSHA recordkeeping and reporting Document and maintain records relating to ISO-14000 and IATF-16949 requirements, including SDS system. Conduct noise and air monitoring tests, utilizing specialized testing/monitoring equipment. Lead and participate in Safety Committee Meetings Maintain working knowledge of all relevant company policies, environmental rules, and regulations. Implement programs to ensure that environmental strategies, policies, and obligations, are met. Other duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation & Experience High School diploma or equivalent required Associate’s degree in related field preferred 1 year of relevant work experience required. OSHA 30 CertificationCompetencies OSHA standards and regulatory compliance Accident and incident investigation Root cause analysis Workers’ compensation and claim management ISO 14001 and IATF 16949 systems SDS/MSDS management Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to influence and engage employees at all organizational levels Effective relationship management with regulators, vendors, customers, and internal teams High level of professionalism and confidentiality Risk-based problem solving Data analysis and trend identification Continuous improvement mindset Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook Communication skills to communicate and interact with all levels of employees, customers, and suppliers Computer skills and math skills sufficient to perform department related tasks as required Ability to work effectively with peopleLicensureValid driver’s licenseWork EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a manufacturing environment.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The work requires regular standing, walking, bending, lifting and a variety of physical activities. Travel to customer locations as needed.
