It's a fun team and an amazing job: we love sensible optimism here!Role DescriptionThis is a part-time, on-site, semi-virtual role located in Asheville and WNC. As a Wedding Planner at K.S.Otter Events, you will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of wedding planning, including venue selection, budget management, timeline management, and step up as the lead on-site planner on wedding days. You'll also be KSO's face in the Asheville & WNC wedding community, building relationships with venues, inclusive vendors, and creative partners across the region.Capacity expectation: Up to 20 weddings per year (Fridays through Sundays) + 4 networking events or venue tours per month, primarily in the Asheville and WNC region.Key Responsibilities:Own assigned weddings end-to-end: client communication, planning, vendor coordination, timeline build, and day-of execution as the lead on-site plannerServe as KSO's primary in-region presence in Asheville, building relationships with WNC venues (mountain estates, breweries, farms, intimate inns) and the local creative vendor communityRun client meetings (consultations, design meetings, venue walkthroughs, final details) using our established meeting frameworks and systemsAttend approximately 4 networking events, venue tours, or industry meetings per month in the Asheville areaConstruct detailed wedding timelines and floor plans using our systems and toolsBuild and maintain vendor relationships in the Asheville market; contribute to our preferred vendor list with strong WNC-specific optionsCommunicate consistently and proactively with couples, vendors, and the KSO team using our email templates and SOPsDocument client decisions, vendor agreements, and timeline updates inside our planning systemsTravel within WNC and occasionally to other NC markets for weddings, training, and team gatheringsFlag market-specific opportunities and challenges to the CEO as we expand KSO's WNC presenceStep in as backup for other planners as neededRequired Qualifications:No former experience required, but ideally has assisted other planners on wedding day.Currently based in or actively relocating to the Asheville areaReliable transportation and willingness to drive across WNC and occasionally further into NC, including some overnight staysComfortable working long event days (7-12 hours) and walking 10,000-22,000 steps in a single day regardless of a venue's terrainComfortable with weekend and evening work; flexibility on weekday networking eventsStrong written communication; comfortable drafting professional client and vendor emailsBasic understanding of Google Drive & Google SheetsDetail-orientedLGBTQIA+ affirming, in practice as well as in principleComfortable driving mountain roads in varied weather and seasonsA love of connecting with people: networking & clienteleMust love working alongside a teamPreferred Qualifications:Existing relationships with Asheville-area venues, florists, photographers, or other wedding vendorsFamiliarity with sustainable or farm-to-table event practices common in the WNC marketSustainability-focused planning experience or genuine interestComfort with public networking and representing a brand to peers, clients, and venuesCompensation & Growth:$20/hour starting, with rate increases tied to client outcomesReimbursement for approved travel, required supplies, and networking event feesMentorship directly from the CEO and access to KSO's full SOP library, planning systems, and template library on day oneReal growth paths available within the businessHow to Apply:Send a resume and a short note to hello@ksotterevents.com telling us why you're awesomeFollow this subject line example: "WNC Planner - [YOUR FAVORITE ANIMAL HERE]"We'll review applications on a rolling basis and interview qualified candidates within two weeks.Rooted in loving the Earth and the people on it.
