Robot Technician
Wright Technical Services is supporting a growing advanced manufacturing and automation environment seeking a hands-on Robot Technician / Robot Programmer to support robotic welding and material handling systems across production and customer project sites.This role is ideal for someone who enjoys full system ownership, from mechanical build and tooling setup to robot programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning. The team is expanding due to increased project volume and internal growth and is looking for individuals who can contribute immediately in both plant and field environments.ResponsibilitiesPerform robot setup, touch-up, and basic intermediate robot programmingSupport full robot builds from delivery through commissioning, including DCS setup, job structures, PLC communication, and safety configurationProgram and troubleshoot material handling and spot-welding robotic systems using grippers and spot gunsPerform weld cell assembly and disassemblyShim tooling to meet customer gauge and tolerance requirements using prints and CMM feedbackPerform cut & etch inspections on welded partsRead and interpret blueprints, weld prints, and assembly drawingsTroubleshoot robot, tooling, and electrical issues including wire stick, minor alarms, sensor failures, and blown fusesSupport HMI and PLC interaction troubleshooting related to robot and cell functionTravel to customer sites to support tooling installs, open issue resolution, and commissioning supportWork cross-functionally with Controls and Engineering teams during builds, installs, and troubleshooting activitiesExperience / QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED requiredTechnical School, Vocational Training, or equivalent hands-on experience preferred2-5+ years robotics technician or robot programming experience (higher levels preferred for advanced roles)Experience working with at least one robot platform (FANUC strongly preferred)Experience working with welding power suppliesMIG welding fundamentals and basic machining experience (mills, lathes, grinders)Basic pneumatic system knowledgeAbility to read and interpret blueprints and weld printsBasic understanding of PLC and HMI interaction with robotic systemsBasic electrical troubleshooting using voltmeter (AC/DC)Experience building or supporting robot systems from setup through startup preferredUnderstanding of GD&T, tooling tolerances, and quality adjustment processes preferredWillingness to travel approximately 30-40% based on project needs
