Lead Bartender
Wylie Dufresne's Stretch Pizza is looking for a bartender to join our team. We have an 18-seat bar and 60-seat restaurant located on Park Avenue South and are open 6 days a week for lunch and dinner service. We’re seeking a polished, hospitality-forward Lead Bartender to oversee and elevate our bar program. This role blends hands-on service with leadership, organization, and creativity. You’ll be responsible for maintaining exceptional guest experience, supporting beverage program execution, and acting as a culture carrier for the front-of-house team. This is a working leadership position: you’ll be behind the bar during service while also owning systems, training, and standards that keep the program running smoothly. Key ResponsibilitiesService & Guest Experience Deliver warm, knowledgeable, and efficient bar service during all shifts Create memorable guest interactions and build regulars Maintain a calm, professional presence during high-volume service Uphold service standards for speed, accuracy, cleanliness, and hospitality Bar Program Execution Execute cocktails, wine, and beer service with consistency and precision Maintain recipe accuracy, specs, and proper technique Ensure garnishes, prep, and mise en place meet quality standards Support seasonal cocktail features and menu updates Contribute cocktail ideas and creative input; all new menu development reports directly to the General Manager and Chef Leadership & Team Support Act as floor leader during shifts Train new bartenders on service standards, recipes, and systems Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to strengthen performance Lead by example in professionalism, accountability, and teamwork Operations & Organization Own organization and cleanliness of the walk-in, liquor room, and all bar storage areas Oversee daily and weekly bar prep to ensure the team is fully prepared for service Maintain par levels and communicate inventory needs to the General Manager Assist with inventory counts and receiving of beverage product Open and/or close the restaurant depending on schedule and business needs Handle cash banks at the start of day and manage end-of-day cash handling procedures Ensure accuracy and accountability in all cash, drawer, and tip procedures Maintain cleanliness and organization of bar, storage, and equipment Support and enforce opening/closing checklists and operational standards Collaboration & Culture Work closely with management and kitchen leadership to ensure cohesive guest experience Contribute ideas to improve workflow, menus, and guest engagement Help foster an inclusive, respectful, and positive work environment Qualifications 3+ years bartending experience in quality-focused restaurants or cocktail bars Prior leadership, trainer, or key-holder experience strongly preferred Strong knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits, beer, and wine Ability to work clean, organized, and efficiently in high-volume service Excellent communication and guest engagement skills Food Handlers (or willingness to obtain) Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays What Success Looks Like in This Role Guests choose to sit at the bar because of your hospitality and consistency Bar team feels supported, trained, and clear on expectations Beverage execution is consistent, clean, and on spec Prep is proactive, not reactive Management trusts you as a reliable extension of leadership Why Work With Us Thoughtful, ingredient-driven food and beverage program Supportive leadership team with room for growth Opportunity to influence and help shape the bar program A fast-paced, professional environment that values craft and hospitality Stretch Pizza is an equal-opportunity employer.
