Senior Staff Engineer

We are seeking a highly experienced and security-minded Senior Staff Engineer - Backend & Cloud, Tech Lead to join our team in a hybrid capacity based in Seattle, WA. This role blends deep technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, requiring a strong foundation in backend development, cloud-native architecture, and infrastructure automation. The ideal candidate will lead engineering efforts while coordinating effectively with offshore teams to ensure delivery of scalable, secure, and maintainable systems.ResponsibilitiesParticipate in design, architecture and implementation of software systems solving complex problems. Includes defining, scoping and estimating stories and work artifacts.Ensure delivery of high quality, scalable, maintainable and well tested codeDocument designs. Provide on-call support for systems the team owns.Serve as the face of the offshore development team and stakeholdersAct as the primary point of contact for Engineering Managers (EMs) and other onsite stakeholdersEnsure effective communication and coordination between onsite and offshore teamsWork with tech leads to align priorities, architecture decisions, and coding standardsBreak down epics and features into smaller technical stories for the offshore teamCoordinate with other tech leads, ensuring that PR approvals follow defined processesEnsure offshore team participation in daily stand-ups and facilitate transparent status reportingOversee delivery ownership for offshore contributions, ensuring timely and quality outcomesManage knowledge transfer and attrition handling within the offshore teamHandle issue escalation and proactively resolve blockers impacting the offshore teamProvide progress updates and ensure accountability for the offshore team's commitmentsQualifications10+ years professional hands on experience delivering quality softwareExcellent proficiency in Java and Spring boot frameworkExperience with messaging technologies and streaming platforms (Kafka)Experience with RESTful architecture and micro servicesProficiency with Cloud technologies (AWS, Kubernetes) GCP is a plusMust know modern infrastructure tools and pipelines (GitLab, CI/CD, Terraform)Test automation experience at all levels (Unit, Integration, Regression and Performance/Load)Familiar with logging and metrics tools (New Relic, Splunk)Should be able to articulate and architect a well-designed systemFamiliarity with relation databases is a plusRetail experience is a plusUnderstanding of modern warehouse management systems is a bonusExperience with messaging technologies and streaming platforms (Kafka)Experience with RESTful APIs, micro services and event driven architectureProficiency with Cloud technologies (AWS, Kubernetes, Docker) GCP is a plusMust know modern infrastructure tools and pipelines (Github, GitLab, CI/CD, Terraform)Familiar with logging and telemetry tools (New Relic, Splunk, Dynatrace)Familiarity with relation databasesWe have a global team of amazing individuals working on highly innovative enterprise projects & products.
