They are expected to behave in a professional manner, keep informed of departmentaland University policies, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to employment obligationsincluding complying with attendance and clocking in and out on time; work with other UniversityFacilities staff as part of a team, be flexible with schedule to accommodate emergencysituations such as staffing shortages and snow removal. Perform as a member of the UniversityStudent Commons (USC) housekeeping staff, performing regular shift cleaning and specialprojects as may be assigned. Ensure each day that the University Student Commons (USC)and surrounding outside areas are maintained in clean condition in compliance with USCHousekeeping Performance Standards ("Standards") and the highest industry standardsthrough individual work and contributing efforts as part of the overall housekeeping team.Qualifications:Minimum QualificationsDemonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.• Significant housekeeping experience.• Knowledge of standard housekeeping procedures and other housekeeping equipment.• Ability to work within established guidelines (independently and as part of a team).• Ability to read, hear and follow spoken/written directions, instructions and schedules, andfill out reports with written descriptions of work completion.• Ability to lift and carry at least 75 pounds routinely.• Ability to kneel, stoop, bend over, climb, and walk for extended periods as required toperform work assignments.• Ability to work in a diverse environment.• Duties include, but are not limited to snow and ice removal, clean up associated withwater or fire damage and special event support.• Ability to clean up to 28,000-35,000 square feet of cleanable space per eight hour workday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m, 40 hours per week.• Ability to work rotating weekends required.Preferred Qualifications• A high school diploma or high school equivalency preferred.• One year of custodial work experience is preferred.• Requires a basic knowledge of English including the ability to read, write and speakEnglish with understanding in order to read and understand product label instructionsand university policies and procedures.• Must be able to relate custodial and maintenance problems clearly to the supervisorand/or the Work Management Center.• Will be required to complete a training program in building cleaning.Salary Range: $33,280Benefits: All full-time university staff are eligible for VCU's robust benefits package that includes comprehensive health benefits, paid annual and holiday leave, generous tuition benefits, retirement planning and savings options, tax-deferred annuity and cash match programs, employee discounts, well-being resources, abundant opportunities for career development and advancement, and more.FLSA Exemption Status: Non-ExemptHours per Week: 40Restricted Position: NoORP Eligible: NoFlexible Work Arrangement: Fully OnsiteUniversity Job Title: 50131N - Housekeeper FM 1State Role Code: 70971Contact Information:Contact Name: Kavin CarrContact Email: carrk6@vcu.edu
