This role supports the organization’s mission by maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, and assisting with audits, budgeting, and grant reporting.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and maintain general ledger entries, monthly reconciliations, and supporting schedulesManage month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timelinessAssist in the preparation of internal financial statements and reports for leadership and the BoardMaintain compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards (e.g., FASB, IRS guidelines)Support grant and fund accounting, including tracking restricted/unrestricted fundsPrepare documentation for annual audits, 990 tax filings, and other compliance reportingMonitor and reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll transactionsAssist with budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysisSupport internal controls and recommend process improvementsCollaborate with program teams to ensure accurate expense tracking and reportingServe as a resource to program managers and staff for finance-related inquiriesQualificationsRequired:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldMinimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit environmentStrong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit financial standardsExperience with fund accounting and grant reportingProficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar)Advanced Excel skills and comfort with data analysisDetail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skillsAbility to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentPreferred:CPA or equivalent certification (or progress toward certification)Experience with federal and state grantsFamiliarity with donor management systems and CRM toolsInterested in hearing more?
