Job Overview / Description: The Cost Engineer performs cost estimating, analysis, and control activities to assist the project managers make informed decisions about the budget and timeline of their projects; predicts project profits; prepare and/or review and endorse cost estimates of different levels of accuracy depending on the maturity of the project definition during the various stages of the project lifecycle. Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Assists in developing and implementing requirements for cost recording, reporting, and analyzing standards, programs, and reports. Assists in preparing cost data for projects, proposals, and contract negotiations. Assesses cost impact to projects for scope change requests. Prepares specific budgets in accordance with prescribed standards and procedures. Independently provides financial reporting and trending for projects. Prepare and manage the staffing plans (cost and job hours). Prepare and coordinate cost reports. Collects and classifies cost engineering data. Performs data analysis and development. Supervisory Responsibility: No direct supervisory duties. Education & Qualifications: Minimum 5+ years of proven experience as construction cost engineer with demonstrated increasing experience and responsibilities. Construction Cost Engineer experience within transportation and / or airports a plus. Intermediate level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes. Familiarity with project management software and Bluebeam. Ability to work in CAD or REVIT a plus. Proficient in MS Office. Outstanding oral and written communication skills. Excellent organization and time-management skills. Strong communication, leadership, and organization skills. BA/BS required. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work. Security Clearance: May be required to pass and clear TSA background investigation which includes a criminal history check.
