Supply Chain Intern
Position SummaryA Supply Chain Intern supports day-to-day supply chain operations and improvement initiatives across areas such as procurement, inventory, logistics, planning, and supplier management. This role provides hands-on experience with data analysis, process documentation, and cross-functional collaboration to improve service levels, cost, and efficiency.Key ResponsibilitiesSupply Chain Operations SupportAssist with purchase order (PO) tracking, order confirmations, and delivery follow-ups.Support inventory monitoring, cycle count preparation, and stock discrepancy investigations.Help coordinate inbound/outbound shipments and resolve routine logistics issues.Data & ReportingCollect, clean, and analyze supply chain data (e.g., lead times, on-time delivery, inventory turns).Build and maintain dashboards or recurring reports in Excel/BI tools.Support root-cause analysis for service, cost, or quality variances.Planning & Forecast SupportAssist with demand/supply planning activities, including forecast updates and supply alignment.Help maintain planning parameters (e.g., safety stock, reorder points) under supervision.Participate in S&OP or weekly planning meetings by preparing summaries and trackers.Process ImprovementDocument current processes (SOPs/work instructions) and identify improvement opportunities.Support Lean/continuous improvement projects (e.g., reducing lead time, improving accuracy).Help implement changes and measure results using defined KPIs.Supplier & Cross-Functional CollaborationCommunicate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to gather updates and clarify requirements.Support vendor performance tracking (OTIF, quality incidents, responsiveness).Coordinate with finance, production, customer service, and warehousing teams as needed.Required QualificationsCurrently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field.Basic understanding of supply chain concepts (procurement, logistics, inventory, planning).Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas; Power Query a plus).Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Preferred QualificationsExperience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, etc.).Familiarity with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) and/or SQL.Prior internship, co-op, or project work in operations, logistics, manufacturing, or procurement.Exposure to Lean/Six Sigma concepts (coursework or certification is a plus).Core CompetenciesAttention to detail and data accuracyProblem-solving and critical thinkingTeamwork and stakeholder managementInitiative and learning agilityTime management and prioritizationTypical DeliverablesWeekly KPI reports (SOTR, inventory levels, backlog, lead-time trends)PO/shipment trackers and exception logsProcess maps and SOP updatesImprovement project summaries and presentationsWork Environment & Schedule (Example)On-site Internship duration: 10–12 weeks (summer) Equal Employment OpportunityParker is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer.
