A successful candidate for the position should be able to develop and evaluate written academic plans, interpret SCHP undergraduate program curricula and University academic policies, and provide a high level of student support and attention to detail to promote student success and create new programming to support student success.Job Duties Work with the Undergraduate Student Support Services and Outreach Director and the Department Chair of Public and Allied Health in advising sophomore and transfer Nursing majors in taking prerequisite coursework toward admission into the upper-division Nursing program; work with the Department Chair of Public and Allied Health in advising sophomore, junior, and senior Health Education majors; assist students in completing their Pathway to Graduation. Develop, evaluate, and/or maintain student records for Pathway to Graduation using an academic evaluation system. Monitor student registration activities and academic performance/progress. Interpret university and SCHP undergraduate academic policies to advisees. Refer students who need academic, financial, student development, or counseling support to the appropriate campus resource and services offices. Develop interventions and programmatic plans to foster student success. Participate in open house, orientation, and other related sessions for prospective and incoming SCHP undergraduate majors. Perform other duties as assigned.Requested Minimum Qualifications Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree At least 3 years of experience in student advisement or program managementOther Preferences for ConsiderationUndergraduate Student Experience Preferred.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesSkills in word processing, database, and spreadsheet software. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters with tact and discretion. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, follow oral and written instructions, and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
