The position involves full-stack development of mixed signal printed circuit boards (PCBs) containing high speed digital circuitry, embedded systems, power conversion, and/or related technologies, as well as associated chassis and interface wiring design.Essential FunctionsMaintain basic working knowledge of Crystal Group’s electrical design tools for efficient conversion of technical requirements into schematic diagrams, PCB layouts, and circuit card assembly drawingsRead and interpret electrical drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standardsAssist the systems team in researching, designing, and evaluating systems and/or processes to meet customer requirementsEnsure designs are producible and error freeProvides component-level review and in-depth electrical troubleshooting support for products in Manufacturing and Technical ServicesProvides basic troubleshooting support for products in Manufacturing and Technical Services Reviews electrical drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards, as assignedUtilize engineering theory and simulation models to assess feasibility, sustainability, and operating condition effectsDirect or coordinate electrical manufacturing and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirementsCompile data and write reports regarding existing or potential electrical engineering studies or projectsDesign electrical test control apparatus or equipment or develop procedures for testing productsPerform detailed electrical calculations to compute and establish manufacturing standards or specificationsEvaluate electrical designs or prototypes for energy performance or environmental impactWrite electrical performance requirements for product development or engineering projectsProvides technical assistance for the Pilot Line build and testing of new products and systemsKnowledge, Skills And AbilitiesBasic understanding and theory of printed circuit design and layoutsFamiliar with the design of wire harnesses and cablesBasic knowledge of computer hardware and systems integrationExperience working in a fast-paced environmentBasic knowledge of electrical component industry standardsBasic understanding of commonly practiced concepts related to Electrical Engineering theoryCurrent industry standards of soldering, wire assemblies, and base assembliesUse of full range instrumentation including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzersMultitask to meet several simultaneous project milestones up to and including completion of several projectsWork both independently and in a team environment with the ability to change priorities as neededBuild, troubleshoot, and debug circuit boards and assemblies including analog and digital electronicsAbility to use various software programs related to engineering theory (Altium Designer, Autodesk inventor, AutoCAD)Create, read, and compare technical data sheetsRequired QualificationMust be a US Person (US Citizen, person granted US Permanent Resident Card or any individual who is granted status as a "protected person”)Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or related engineering field or at least 10+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience in lieu of a degreePreferred Qualification1+ years of PCB and schematic layout3+ years of electrical component building experience3+ years of CAD software related workExtensive knowledge of computer equipment (PC, firewall, switch, data acquisition systems, UPS, server rack equipment, etc.)Extensive knowledge of advanced testing equipment (bode plot generators, oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, hall-effect probes, etc.)Working ConditionsWork is primarily performed in an office environment. Occasional exposure to manufacturing floor and testing environments.
