Speech/Language Pathologist

Title: Speech-Language PathologistQualifications:1. SLP Certification with properendorsements.2. Additional qualifications asSuperintendent or Board may findappropriate and acceptable.Reports To:The Building Principal, Director or SpecialEducation, and Superintendent.Job Duties/ Responsibilities:Under the direction of the Admissions andRelease Committee, screen, and assess, andidentify students with communication disorders,which adversely affect their educational progress.Develop and provide direct and indirect serviceas within the student's educational setting, basedon established IEP goals and objectives.1. Prepares written evaluations and maintainrecords which clearly and succinctlydocument service provided, studentprogress and discharge from therapy asrecommended to the Admissions andRelease Committee.2. Complies with evaluations standards anddetermine eligibility for services based onthe Kentucky Eligibility Guidelines forCommunication Disorders.3. Effectively communicates test results,diagnosis and proposed treatment plansto the Admissions and Releasecommittee.4. Assures compliance with establishedState and federal laws, regulations,policies, and procedures.5. Prepares reports as needed by the localschool district and/or KY Department ofEducation.6. Develop treatment plans consistent withthe IEP.7. Reviews therapy goals and objectives andmake recommendations for changes asappropriate to the admissions andRelease Committee.8. Employs instructional/therapeuticmethods and materials that areappropriate for meeting each student'sgoals and objectives.9. Operates and maintains a variety oftherapeutic equipment and train others inuse of the equipment as necessary.10. Assesses, selects, and developsaugmentative and/or alternativecommunication systems and providetraining in their use.11. Participate in hearing screeningprograms to identify and refer studentswith hearing impairment and/or middleear disorders.12. Supervises and coordinates the activitiesof any assigned staff. Adheres to statelaw regarding the type and amount ofsupervision required for licensed speed-language pathology assistant(s).13. Communicates with students who havedisorders of communication, theirfamilies, caregivers and other serviceproviders relative to the student'sdisability and its management. Assistsin development activities to meet thecommunication needs of the student.14. Communicates with appropriateagencies, schools and otherorganizations as needed in order to meetthe needs of students withcommunication disabilities.15. Remains current concerninginstructional and technologicaladvances and other matters concerningspeech-language therapy.16. Attends and participate in professionalworkshops and conferences.17. Provides training to other professionalsand paraprofessionals as requested.18. Attends staff meetings and serves oncommittees as needed.19. Performs related duties as assigned.Terms of Service: Salary and work days to be determined by the Board.
