NOTRE DAME DE SION SCHOOLPOSITION PROFILEPOSITION TITLE: Music Assistant/AccompanistSTIPEND: $15,000 (to be paid in four installments: Oct 15, Dec 15, March 15, May 15)REPORTS TO: Director of Performing ArtsThe Music Assistant/Accompanist supports the music program at Notre Dame de Sion High School byproviding high-quality accompaniment and rehearsal support across ensembles, performances, and events. Thisrole enhances the musical experience for students while supporting Sion’s mission to develop confident,collaborative, and expressive learnersSion educators are:Confident Practitioners who empower students by organizing purposeful lessons that teach skills,promote fitness, and engage a diverse community of learners.Growth-Minded Learners who model perseverance, seek professional growth, and use reflection anddata to continuously improve their instruction.Inclusive Community Builders who cultivate a welcoming environment, foster meaningfulrelationships, and communicate effectively and professionally.This specific role involves accompanying the choirs and symphony, and supporting students with events outsideof the regular school hours such as performances, district competition, and the musical.QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICSKnowledge of and commitment to the Sion mission.Music degree preferred, with emphasis on piano performanceAbility to accompany choral and instrumental piecesAccompany advanced level pieces for student competitionsAccompany for the musicalAssist with instrumental arrangements, including writing piano accompaniments based oninstrumental parts that are missing from the ensembleUnderstanding of adolescent development, especially the needs of high school girls.Strong rehearsal management skills that balance creativity with structure and safety.Ability to collaborate with the Fine Arts Department and production team.Willingness to mentor students during rehearsals and performances.Essential Job Duties Serve as the accompanist for school ensembles and music activities, including:Petit ChœurGrand ChœurSymphonie de SionTri-M Music Honor SocietySchool Masses and liturgical celebrationsAnnual Musical and rehearsalsProvide accompaniment and musical support for performances and school events, including (but not limited to):AssembliesCommunity performances, including 2 concerts a yearMusicalSolo and Ensemble Festival, District and StateRecruitment eventsBreakfast with SantaInternational choral festivals every 3 - 4 years, with extra rehearsals to prepareDistrict and State ChoirDistrict and State Band/Orchestra/Jazz BandDistrict and State Solo & Ensemble (this should be up above, not here)Provide rehearsal support during the school day.Develop and/or adapt arrangements and orchestrations for Symphonie de Sion as neededTravel with and support student ensembles as an assistant and/or accompanist for international trips,as assignedContributes positively to the Fine Arts Department and overall school community.Performs additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Performing Arts.Tentative Calendar:Musical Auditions Sept 1 - 2September Mass- 10thGrande Assemblée - Oct. 22ndOctober Mass- 29thTech Week for Musical Nov. 2 - 8Fall Concert - Nov. 18thBreakfast with Santa - Dec. 5thDecember Mass- 8thChristmas Caroling - Dec. 11thJanuary Mass- 21stFebruary Mass- 10thDistrict Solo/Ensemble - March 27th?Junior Ring Ceremony - April 25Spring Concert - April 27thState Solo/Ensemble - April 30thGraduation - May 27thPhysical Requirements & Work EnvironmentMust be able to carry heavy equipment at times and drive a large vanEvening or weekend commitments are required for rehearsals or performances (scheduled in advance).Commitment to Non-Discrimination & DiversityNotre Dame de Sion is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to increasing the diversity of thecampus community.
