Located in the Lakes and Mountains region of western Maine, Bridgton students and staff enjoy opportunities to study, work, and recreate in one of the most scenic places in New England, as well as enjoy a positive and rewarding work environment within our state-of-the-art campus facilities.SummaryThe ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of mathematics, including demonstrated experience in advanced algebra, statistics, and pre-calculus; experience with higher-level coursework is a plus. The candidate should be familiar with a range of instructional resources and practices in mathematics education, including curriculum development, and have a proven ability to guide students of diverse academic backgrounds toward increased confidence and achievement.This position requires a passionate educator who can create a dynamic learning environment that encourages critical thinking and supports college readiness. Participation as an assistant coach or in other extracurricular activities may be required.Essential FunctionsReporting to the Dean of Academics, the Mathematics Teacher will:Teach 4-5 courses each semester, for two semesters (full year).Serve as an advisor for a small group of students.Assist in coaching an athletic team or leading extracurricular activities (intramurals or outdoor experiences).Assist in supervising evening study hall, dormitories, and weekend campus activities (valid driver’s license required).Qualifications And AttributesBachelor’s degree in mathematics or related fields. A master’s degree, which allows for the potential to teach College Articulation Program (CAP) classes, is preferred. Two or more years of experience in a related professional environment, such as independent schools or colleges, is preferred. Excellent writing and communication skills. Strong understanding of, and appreciation for, the motivation and mindset of the emerging young adult male student.Commitment to our students, faculty, and the mission of our Academy.Collegiality, intellectual curiosity, a willingness to listen, as well as the ability to exercise patience, collaborate, and innovate.Experience as a student-athlete or coach is not required, but beneficial.Salary And BenefitsCompetitive salary commensurate with experience.
