This role focuses on ensuring client safety, comfort, and well-being throughout the night, responding to needs as they arise, and maintaining a calm, secure environment.Responsibilities and duties:Know the location and always disposition of all residents (under direct care)Monitor clients throughout the night to ensure safety and comfortAssist with nighttime personal care, including toileting, hygiene, and repositioningRespond promptly to call lights, alarms, or client requestsIn emergency situations, assist residents according to the Emergency Plan of the facilityAssists with First Aid as directedAdminister medications as authorized and according to care plans (if applicable)Observe and document changes in client condition or behaviorProvide emotional support and reassurance to clients during overnight hoursMaintain a cooperative and cheerful attitude when relating to residentsPerform light housekeeping related to client care (e.g., tidying rooms, laundering linens)Prepare light snacks or fluids as neededFollow all care plans, safety protocols, and infection control proceduresCommunicate effectively with day staff regarding overnight events or concernsFollow any written work schedules and service schedulesAttend staff meetings and in-service trainingRead, follow and sign any care plans and post messages and/or updates during each shiftCore competencies:Reliability and alertness during overnight hours4/2 rotation days (4 days on/2 days off)Attention to detail and safetyRespect for client dignity and privacyAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionQualifications:Each employee must have a physical examination and tuberculin test performed by a physician. The tests are to be completed (with results) within seven (7) days after hire (unless regulations stipulate completion before employment). If the exams are not completed within the timeframe, the employee will be placed on suspension until they are completed.The Department of Social Services (DSS) licensing agency requires that fingerprint cares and an affidavit on criminal convictions be submitted for the purpose of conducting a criminal record review. The DSS will issue an approval or denial according to the criminal clearance reports. Approval must be obtained in order to retain employment.All employees must keep their FIRST-AID certification currentAbility to work overnight (NOC) shifts, including weekends and holidaysSkills, knowledge and abilities:Strong observational and communication skillsCompassionate, patient, and dependable demeanorOrganizational skillsmust be able to maintain order and efficiency in performing job duties, maintain constant paceMust be able to think and make decisions consistent with policies and procedures and licensing requirementsEducation and experience:High school diploma or equivalent, requiredMust be at least 18 years old, requiredPrevious caregiving, CNA, or healthcare experience, preferredWork environment:Overnight/NOC shifts (typically 10:00 PM 6:00 AM)May involve extended periods of quiet monitoring with intermittent care tasksMust be able to handle stress well, stay calm under pressure.Physical demands: Standing long periods of time, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling or lifting up to 50 pounds, keeping or regaining balance, making respective motions, using your hands to handle, control, or feel objects.
