College SelmaPosition SummaryAdult Education Instructional Coordinator (PT)Salary Schedule Placement: Commensurate with education and experience according to Salary Schedule LHEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesIn addition to adhering to the general guidelines as specified by the Faculty/Staff Handbook, the Department Coordinator, Dean of Students, the President, and Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, responsibilities will include the following:• Serve as the instructional services coordinator for in-person, hybrid, and online classes.• Assure that instructional programs are based on sound assessment, teaching, learning, support services, and continual program improvement.• Assist the program director with vision, development, and review of work-based learning and workforce training programs.• Coordinate the development and implementation of Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education (IELCE) and Integrated Education and Training (IET) in applicable classes.• Ensure that curriculum, units of instruction, and lesson plans are aligned with Alabama's adult education content standards.• Remain current on curriculum, technology, and software changes.• Maintain and update instructional materials in classroom• Assist the director of the program with strategic planning, staff development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and instruction leading to continuous improvement.• Develop the contextualization of lesson plans to align content with career pathways and IETs.• Assist in designing and facilitating on-going staff development plan for adult education program• Prepare and implement program activities such as workshops, in-service training, graduation programs, etc.• Solve conflicts and problems in the classroom.• Assist instructors with developing lessons to engage in analysis, investigation, and interpretation as part of the learning process.• Collaborate with other program staff to promote the program through program-sponsored social media platforms and other means of advertising.• Assist with recruitment of potential students and retention of current students.• Provide and prepare statistical data for reports as requested by administrators.• Assist in the preparation and application of grant proposals for continued funding.• Provide the program's philosophy, goals, instructional services, schedules, attendance policies, and other relevant information during onboarding of new instructors.• Determine the support services needed and perform classroom observations to assist instructors with identifying strategies and weaknesses in developing individual professional development plans.• Record the instructor's goals and needs.• Train instructors on the use of assessment instruments to diagnose, evaluate, and place adult learners in the program.• Participate in all professional development opportunities provided by college and community education staff, including attendance at the annual adult education summer conference and college in-service meetings.• Develop appropriate professional development for instructors based on identified needs and performance for continuous improvement.• Represent the college and its philosophy to perspective students and to others in the community and the Alabama Community College System.• Serve on college committees as requested.• Assist the Adult Education Director in supervising sites and faculty/staff by conducting quarterly site and classroom observations• Assist in hiring, training, coaching, and evaluating adult education faculty and instructional staff.• Assist in ensuring educational quality and the success of adult education students in the service area.• Collaborate and coordinate adult education activities, classes, etc. with site partners and other community organizations.• Assist in the expansion of services in all service area counties.• Assist in accessing the needs of the communities in the service area.• Assist in designing strategies to meet the program's State and Federal goals.• Complies with any applicable guidelines and policies set forth by the Alabama Community College System and Wallace Community College Selma.• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Adult Education Director, Associate Dean of Leaming, Dean of Instruction, and the President.QualificationsRequired Qualifications (revision):Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution or a local, state, or nationally recognized professional certification or licenseMinimum of two (2) years of relevant professional and/or instructional experienceClassroom teaching, training, or facilitation experienceProficiency in standard computer applications and instructional technologyStrong oral and written communication
