DescriptionUNC REX Digestive Healthcare is seeking a full-time Advanced GI Hospitalist (MD/DO) to join our teams in Raleigh and Holly Springs.Physicians work alongside two experienced APPs who provide seven-day support with inpatient rounding, consulting, and follow-ups. Dedicated anesthesia coverage is available for all endoscopy procedures, creating a highly efficient and collaborative inpatient environment.For more than 50 years, UNC REX Digestive Healthcare has provided exceptional gastroenterology care to patients throughout the Raleigh region and remains one of the most advanced GI practices in Wake County. Our Holly Springs location, based on the campus of UNC Health Rex Holly Springs Hospital, delivers comprehensive digestive care and advanced gastrointestinal services to the rapidly growing communities of southern Wake County.Responsibilities:1. Provides professional medical services to patients.2. Perform a limited volume of routine hospital-based outpatient procedures.3. Exercises independent professional judgment in the care and treatment of patients.4. Orders and prescribes medical treatment, diagnostic testing, nursing care and other health and medical services. Prescribes medically appropriate pharmaceuticals.5. Consults and counsels with patients and families. Provides health and medical education to patients and families.6. Refers patients as needed to appropriate medical specialists and other health care professionals to assure appropriate multidisciplinary care is provided.7. Documents medical and clinical care in the patient's medical record. Assigns the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to permit third party insurance billing.8. Supervises other medical professionals.9. Adheres to the principles of medical ethics.Recruiter: Tina McBee, Other InformationEducation Requirements:Meet the Board Certification requirements.Graduation from an accredited school of medicine.Licensure/Certification Requirements:Board Certified Gastroenterology DEA;ACLS;MDProfessional Experience Requirements:Prefer prior hospitalist experience.Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:Language Skills: Should be able to communicate proficiently in English.REASONING ABILITYHigh-level quantitative and qualitative reason skills are essential in order to diagnosis medical and clinical issues presented by patients.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSNorth Carolina Medical License, DEA License, BLS/ACLS certification preferred.
