This position will be located in Woodlawn, MD.This Network Engineer will be working on cutting-edge network design and operations. This position will support various customers within Health Solutions. This is an excellent opportunity to learn, grow, and be a part of a first-class organization working on complex, leading edge network technology. Position is responsible for providing engineering expertise for complex multi-service networking. The network engineer is responsible for engineering, and supporting of the network design, deployment and operations for a large government customer located in Baltimore, Maryland. Emphasis is on implementing field installations and upgrades for nationwide deployments. This position may require from 25% to 50% travel to various domestic customer locations. Position requires regular on-site work at the customer location and warehouse.Duties and Responsibilities:Survey network requirements of remote customer offices, campus buildings, and Data Centers. Define equipment, cables, adapters and configurations needed to upgrade buildings and sites to established standardAnalyze current network configurations and determine implementation requirementsConfigure routing protocols, complex switch networks, and Fabric Path configurationsPrepare network equipment for deployment by loading appropriate software and configuration setting according to pre-engineered design templatesAssemble required equipment, cables, adapters, etc. and arrange delivery to site for installationUpgrade configuration of existing network equipment to support new features and functionsWork with field installation contractors while they are on-site and provide all technical details to complete installationsContinually review the customer's network and practices looking for opportunities to enhance network functionality, performance and reliabilityAssist in the evaluation of potential network products or technical solutionsTest LAN/WAN equipment software (i.e.: IOS, NXOS)Contribute to the development of network documentation, including diagrams, standards, specifications and operating proceduresMonitor for opportunities to enhance the customer network/system performance or reliabilityMonitor for opportunities to improve the customer service delivery practicesPerform on-going management of network installation and upgrade projects and maintain deployment schedulesProvide guidance to team members and provide status metrics to Government customer and Peraton managementProvide third-level support and troubleshooting of network problems. Periodically provide after-hours and weekend supportMaintain and extend expertise in applicable areas of network and computer hardware and software technologyQualificationsBasic Qualifications:Bachelors of Science Degree and 2 years of experience or Associates Degree with 4 years of experience. 6 years of relevant work experience with HS diploma.Cisco CCNA or equivalent level of Cisco Certification.Hands-on network experience configuring routing protocols and switching configuration in medium to large enterprise networksExperience in network connectivity for Cisco LAN and WAN networking equipment and softwareDemonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical topics to management and non-technical audiences, as well as interface with the customer dailyMust be able to obtain a Public Trust clearanceMust be a US CitizenPosition requires regular on-site work at the customer location and warehouse. Must reside close to Woodlawn, MDPreferred Qualifications: Masters degreePrior experience supporting the Social Security Administration or similar government agenciesUnderstanding of SSA business processes supporting IT programs, networks, and/or cybersecurity programsPassed the Cisco Certified Networking Profession (CCNP)Hands-on experience with Cisco NXOSHands-on experience with Cisco IDS and IPS productPrior hands on experience with Cisco networks automation such as Python scripting and Cisco PRIME InfrastructureKnowledge of Wide Area Network technologiesKnowledge of Local Area Network technologies such as Ethernet, wireless LAN as well as the physical media and equipment associated with eachKnowledge of IP routing protocols and implementationsAbility to diagnose and resolve network problemsDetailsTarget Salary Range: $66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
