Job DescriptionJob Title: Ironworker - Steel Erection / Pre-Engineered Metal BuildingsLocation: Abilene, TexasPay Rate: $25 per hourPer Diem: $115 per dayJob Type: Full-TimeHours: 55-60 hours per weekJob Overview:We are seeking experienced Ironworkers to join our team in Abilene, TX. This role focuses on steel erection and pre-engineered metal building installation. Candidates will work with structural steel, operate industrial machinery, and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to high-quality standards. Strong mechanical and technical skills are required, as well as the ability to read and interpret blueprints and layouts.Responsibilities:Read specifications or blueprints to determine locations, quantities, or sizes of materials requiredFabricate metal parts, such as steel frames, columns, beams, or girders, according to blueprints or supervisor instructionsUnload and position prefabricated steel units for hoisting as neededHoist steel beams, girders, or columns into place using cranes or by signaling hoisting equipment operatorsVerify vertical and horizontal alignment of structural steel members using plumb bobs, laser equipment, transits, or levelsCut, bend, or weld steel pieces using metal shears, torches, or welding equipmentForce structural steel members into final positions using turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks, or hand toolsPull, push, or pry structural steel members into approximate positions for bolting into placeBolt aligned structural steel members for permanent riveting, bolting, or weldingAssemble hoisting equipment or rigging, such as cables, pulleys, or hooks, to move heavy materials or equipmentTake personal responsibility for fostering a safe workplace by following safety policies and proceduresTrain or supervise others in job duties as neededPerform a variety of duties, including those of other positions as assignedRequirements:High school diploma or GED preferredSuccessful completion of an Ironworker apprenticeship preferred3+ years of Journeyman-level ironworking experience requiredIndustrial machine licenses (e.g., forklift) preferredMust have experience with:I-BeamsOperating aerial liftsPre-Fabricated metal building erectionIronwork constructionKnowledge of machines and tools, including their design, uses, repair, and maintenanceKnowledge of materials, methods, and tools used in construction or repair of buildings or industrial structuresKnowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technologyAbility to visualize layouts by reading plans and printsAbility to comprehend and troubleshoot mechanical systemsMust have OSHA 10 Construction Industry certification (current within last 5 years)Must be able to pass a work physical and pre-employment drug screeningJob Summary:This role is for Journeyman-level Ironworkers experienced in steel erection and pre-engineered metal building installation.
