RRC - Customer Service Rep I - Records CustodianThe Railroad Commission of Texas seeks a Customer Service/Oil and Gas Records Custodian to perform a variety of duties within the files unit, including processing, editing, quality control review, shipping, and receiving of records associated with the RRC. Responsibilities may include supporting imaging initiatives involving historical records and newly created documents, as well as performing additional related tasks as assigned. Central Records maintains microfilm, microfiche, and digital data documenting the history of every Texas oil and natural gas well, along with other related records. The ongoing imaging program is responsible for imaging and indexing these records to provide public online access via the internet.Essential Job Duties:Preserves historical information by preparing documents for imaging.Performs key entry work using an internet-based application.Conducts quality assurance work on imaged documents.Assist Commission staff and the general public with inquiries received in person, by phone, mail, and/or via the internet pertaining to information contained in the RRC digital data system, microfilm, and microfiche.Assist the public at the agency receptionist desk as needed.Assist the public at the Research counter as needed.Performs additional tasks, as assigned, to maintain workflow.Minimum Qualifications:High School diploma or GEDAt least one (1) year of experience in customer service, call center, administrative support, or a related field.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Basic computer proficiency, including experience with Microsoft Office or similar software.Knowledge of professional office and administrative practices and procedures.Preferred Qualifications:General knowledge of Oil and Gas Division functions.Detailed familiarity with the required forms and filing procedures.Experience in the operation of various types of micrographics equipment.Past participation in complex document imaging projects.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:Knowledge of general office procedures.Knowledge of professional protocol.Skill in using Microsoft Office and other Windows-based PC software applications.Skill in word processing and mainframe terminal operation.Skill in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.Demonstrated skill in working on tasks requiring meticulous attention to detail and maintaining a high level of accuracy.Demonstrated ability to retrieve and analyze acquired information from hard files, microfilm, and computer databases.Ability to visually discern colors and work with written materials.Ability to learn and understand oil and gas policy and procedures, and interpret processes.Ability to accurately file, sort, alphabetize, organize, and distribute documents and retrieve files.Ability to operate copy machine, fax, and other general office equipment.Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 30 pounds Ability to stoop, reach low and high, push and pull heavy file drawers and/or cart.Ability to work around equipment generating heat, noise, and bright reflective lights.Ability to work independently and on a team.Ability to accurately enter and retrieve data from internal systems.Demonstrated ability to handle customer inquiries, complaints, and requests in a professional and courteous manner.Ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, and work in a fast-paced environment.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Ability to work Monday-Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM at RRC headquarters.
