Specimen Collector I
The Specimen Collector is responsible for collecting biological specimens at client sites for the purpose of conducting scientific testing. Duties will include maintaining the integrity of the collection process, maintaining records for reporting purposes, obtaining initial insurance verification for billing purposes, and packaging the specimens for shipment.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesFoster open communication between the client and Aegis Sales ManagementFollow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for sample collectionEnsure the integrity of each ‘Chain of Custody’ and sample:Sufficient sample volumesSamples properly labeled and sealedEnsure sample requisitions are complete and all information is correct:Utilize Electronic Lab Requisitions (ELR) “FLUID” for sample submissionsAnswer questions from client/patients regarding Aegis policiesComplete and maintain required Compliance TrainingHIPAA Training, etc. Annual Lease Agreements (where required)Comply with all applicable safety requirements including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)Order supplies and manage budget with RSM and ASM as requiredVerify insurance information through Passport as neededRequest/collect payment from patients (where applicable)Maintain regular communication with Regional Sales Manager and Area Sales ManagerSupport ASM/RSM in his/her marketing and sales objectives with regards to sample collectionMaintain an excellent working knowledge of Aegis testing servicesEncompass a “can do” attitude and represent Aegis in a professional, positive mannerParticipate in process improvements, including process definition, measurement analysis, and implementation of controlsParticipate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill Other duties as required and assignedA Successful Candidate Must PossessHigh School diploma or GED requiredAbility to work in a fast paced environment while maintaining a focus on quality and extreme confidentialityExperience in the healthcare/medical field is preferredExcellent customer service skills are essential to success in this rolePositive approach and attitude in patient interactions Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work on multiple tasks without sacrificing quality, attention to detail, and ability to interact with staff at all levels is requiredBasic computer knowledge including, but not limited to:Ability to send, receive, and monitor emailsBasic understanding of web site navigation including URL and how to enter website addressesAbility to maintain and enter usernames/password and understand why credentials are importantBasic understanding of ports on a computer (USB for signature pad, printers)Ability to type at least 40 words per minute Experience and understanding of Windows operating systemPreferred experience with tablets and use of a stylusKnowledge of how to save or delete files and foldersUnderstanding necessity of security measureSchedule: Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 AM–3:00 PM, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3:30–7:00 PM, plus daytime shifts on Monday from 12:00–3:00 PM and Wednesday from 11:00 AM–3:00 PM.Our Total Reward Package for this role includes full benefits (medical, dental, vision, STD/LTD, 401K, Life Insurance, and PTO), eligibility to participate in the annual team member bonus plan, and starting pay at $16+/hour or higher (dependent on experience and state/local laws).Aegis Sciences Corporation is an Equal Opportunity Employer
