DescriptionJob Title: Finance ManagerLocation: Chicago Job Type: Full-TimeReports to: Director of Finance Direct Reports: Staff accountant and PayrollAbout UsGod Restoring Order (GRO) Community is a mental healthcare provider that specializes in trauma recovery services for males of color ages 5 and up. GRO services are grounded in an understanding of the neurological, biological and psychological effects of trauma. GRO services include mental health and wellness, stress management, and community outreach.Position SummaryThe Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing the financial health and sustainability of GRO Community. This role manages financial planning, budgeting, reporting, compliance, and internal controls to ensure fiscal responsibility and alignment with organizational goals. The Finance Manager works closely with leadership to support strategic decision-making and long-term financial planning in a nonprofit behavioral health setting.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management & ReportingDevelop and manage annual operating and program budgetsPrepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsMonitor cash flow, revenue projections, and expendituresPresent financial reports to the Executive Director and Board as neededAnalyze financial performance and recommend corrective actionsAccounting & ComplianceOversee general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and reconciliationsEnsure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and fund accounting principlesMaintain compliance with federal, state, Medicaid, and grant regulationsCoordinate annual audits and prepare required documentationEnsure timely tax filings (Form 990 and related documentation)Internal Controls & Risk ManagementEstablish and maintain strong internal financial controlsDevelop financial policies and proceduresIdentify financial risks and implement mitigation strategiesStrategic LeadershipSupport executive leadership with financial forecasting and long-term planningProvide financial insights to inform organizational growth and program expansionCollaborate with HR on payroll, benefits budgeting, and workforce planningCompetenciesStrong knowledge of nonprofit accounting and fund accounting principlesUnderstanding of Medicaid billing and behavioral health funding structuresFinancial analysis and strategic planning skillsHigh attention to detail and accuracyIntegrity and commitment to ethical financial managementStrong organizational and time-management skillsEffective communication skills with both financial and non-financial stakeholdersProficiency in accounting software and Microsoft ExcelWork SettingHybrid, 3 days on-site, 2 days remoteQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field requiredMaster’s degree or CPA preferredMinimum of 5 years of progressive financial management experienceExperience in nonprofit finance required; behavioral health or Medicaid-funded organization preferredProficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or similar systems)What We OfferCompetitive salary and benefits package.A supportive and dynamic work environment committed to social impact.Opportunities for professional development and growth.How To ApplyInterested candidates should submit a resume and cover letter detailing their relevant experience to grosources@grocommunity.org.
