JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED: Excellent communication skills; mathematical, verbal, and computer skills at college level preferred; excellent customer relationship skillsMust be able to problem solveAbility to establish work priorities and to multi-task for maximum efficiency.Must be able to retain information once learnedAbility to work in a fast paced environment.Ability to follow as series of steps without confusion or error on an on-going basis. Responsible for lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects. Frequent contact with water because of handwashing. Sufficient noise and interruptions to cause distraction and stress. Hazardous working conditions in which individual may be exposed to a risk of bodily injury through contact with moving instrumentation, chemicals, and/or body fluids. They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel so classified.ONGOING COMPETENCIES (JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):Greets public in a professional and cheerful manner at all times.Answers phone and direct calls appropriately.Complete patient registration and test order computer data entry as required by established standards and procedures.Keeps files accurately and orderly.Reviews and verifies a random selection of OP requisitions for accuracy. Prepares Opportunity Improvement forms when errors are noted. Notifies the physician practice when an error is made to make arrangements for patient to return for recollect if physician deems necessary.Creates and reviews pending logs and finds missing specimens accordingly. Pulls specimens from storage. Determines specimen availability and appropriateness for additional testing on requests received after initial testing has been received and/or completed.Process all laboratory specimens to include centrifuging, separating, measuring, storing and distributing to appropriate testing areas or packaging for transport to reference laboratories.Identify and resolve routine specimen acceptability and test order problems.Notifies Phlebotomy if recollects are needed.Maintains work area in a clean and organized manner. Decontaminates work area as designated.Follows all PPE requirements of the LaboratoryPerforms reference lab processing on the weekend.Assist in client and outreach projects at the direction of the management team.Communicates to the Phlebotomy team lead staffing needs, supplies, equipment, procedures and policies.Participates in special projects and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
