Job DetailsDescriptionGeneral Summary:The Medical Laboratory Technician I (MLT) is responsible for performing lab tests with precision and accuracy paying close attention to detail. The MLT will work directly with providers, nursing, and other staff members and is expected to maintain a level of quality that meet or exceed customer expectations through process improvement and a team oriented approach. They are expected to provide excellent customer service to the patient, their co-workers, and to others they come in contact with during daily operations.Main ResponsibilitiesPerform lab tests with precision and accuracy paying close attention to detailPrepares specimens for microscope examinationPerform procedures such as CBC (Complete Blood Count), Urinalysis, and Acute Care Kit testingInput results in computer and report results to other Health Care Team members in an accurate and timely mannerPerform phlebotomy and collecting specimens for testing and working with patients of all ages and development levelsMaintain safety and infection control standardsMust maintain a high standard of performance, quality control, calibration, testing, and reporting of resultsMaintain equipment operationStock/order lab supplies as neededMaintain confidentiality in matters relating to patients and testing resultsMeet or exceed customer needs in a caring, effective and cost effective mannerMaintain levels of quality that meet or exceed customer expectations through process improvement and a team oriented approachOther duties as assignedMay be moved to other offices upon request based upon the business need of Holston Medical Group on an occasional basisEducation/Experience/KnowledgeGraduation from an accredited MLT program and passing a national exam given by the Board of Registry of the American Society for Clinical PathologyLicensed PhlebotomistPrevious Phlebotomy experience a plus1 – 3 years MLT experienceAbility to work under pressureExceptional attention to detailMust have strong Customer Service Skills and a friendly attitude Physical/Mental DemandsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Think thru consequences of a decision prior to making it.Marginal: Sedentary work that includes moving objects up to 10 pounds. Observing an area that can be seen up and down or to right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point.
