Quality Inspector
Why do we need you?Under the supervision of the Quality Supervisor, this role ensures the accuracy and reliability of quality test equipment, supports product and material testing, and contributes to continuous improvement of the Quality Management System.Essential DutiesCalibrate, maintain, and repair quality testing equipment.Manage quality documents, visual standards, and product standards.Conduct capability studies on new and existing product runs.Provide training on finished-product testing and quality checks.Investigate field claims and returned product; prepare reports and assist with corrective actions.Process and evaluate raw material Certificates of Analysis; communicate with vendors regarding material quality issues.Support non-conforming material reporting, inventory evaluations, and Material Review Board activities.Maintain databases related to color standards, raw materials, claims, calibration, and other quality metrics.Assist with QDMS implementation, ISO 9000 and VSI audits, and other system improvements.Perform product, process, and internal audits; verify corrective action implementation.Participate in change management, control plan development, and quality improvement initiatives.Provide quality data analysis for cross-functional teams and support urgent quality issues on the production floor.ExpectationsAnalyze test data and clearly communicate results to help drive product quality improvements.Make decisions on product conformity based on established guidelines, escalating deviations to the Quality Manager.Collaborate effectively with multiple departments and locations to support the Quality Management System.Is this job for you?7+ years in quality or quality and operations combined.Formal ASQ Quality Tech certification training or audit training completed can be used to reduce experience requirement by 2 years.In addition, the Quality Specialist must possess the following skills and abilities:Accurate: The ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly is essential.Communication (Oral): The ability to communicate with Quality Control Supervisor, Production Supervisor, co-workers, and managers effectively is essential.Decision Making: The ability to make decisions while following all Company safety rules and quality procedures is essential, especially when working in and around moving high-speed equipment.Detail-oriented: The ability to note minute details is critical.Honesty/Integrity: The trait of being truthful and credible within the workplace is essential.Organized: The ability to follow a systematic method to evaluate processes, systems, and conformity of product while maintaining a clean and well-organized work area and files is critical.Problem Solving: The ability to proactively find solutions or manage work-related problems is important.Reliability: The trait of being dependable and trustworthy is essential.Team Building: The ability to influence coworkers to participate in safety, quality, and service initiatives in an effort to promote Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and capture cost savings is essential.A little more about usThrough the responsible development of innovative and sustainable building products, CertainTeed, headquartered in Malvern, Pennsylvania, has helped shape the building products industry for more than 110 years.
