VOA Northern New England is seeking a detail-oriented Director of Finance to join and help drive the missions of our dedicated, dynamic seven-person Finance Department. This role offers a hybrid work environment, blending in-office collaboration with the flexibility of remote work. The demonstrated ability to be able to help grow and uplift Finance team members in their own career ambitions is a must. The Director of Finance will be a key leadership role within the finance department, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer. This role is ideal for an ambitious, self-motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced setting and is experienced in handling sensitive information professionally. A background in using NetSuite is highly advantageous. Key Responsibilities: Manage daily financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger. Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and reports for management; present findings in various meetings. Enhance revenue cycle processes to optimize cash flow. Supervise the Manager of Finance and Accounts Payable Specialist, providing mentorship and conducting annual evaluations. Coordinate the annual budgeting process and financial forecasts. Lead the upgrade and maintenance of the financial fund accounting system, with a preference for those experienced in NetSuite. Develop and enforce internal controls and policies to ensure compliance and efficiency. Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and financial compliance. Foster team collaboration and build relationships across the organization. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; CPA or MBA preferred. Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience in a nonprofit environment. At least two years experience in a supervisory role. Proficiency in nonprofit fund accounting systems, with NetSuite experience being a significant plus (preferred). Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in both independent and team environments.
