CNC Programmer/Machinist Location: Buffalo, NY Job Type: Full-Time Shift: Day Shift Compensation: DOE Position Overview We are seeking a skilled CNC Programmer/Machinist to join a growing precision manufacturing team. This role is ideal for a motivated professional with hands-on experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC lathes and mills in a custom manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality precision components while maintaining strict quality and production standards.Key ResponsibilitiesProgram CNC lathes and milling machines for both custom and repeat production jobs. Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC machines to ensure efficient production. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and job routers. Select tooling, establish machine offsets, and optimize machining processes. Perform first article inspections (FAI), in-process inspections, and final quality checks. Verify dimensional accuracy using precision measuring instruments. Collaborate with production, quality, and supervisory teams to resolve machining challenges. Maintain production schedules while ensuring high-quality workmanship. Identify opportunities for process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce scrap. Follow all company safety policies and maintain a clean, organized work area.Required QualificationsMinimum 1 year of CNC machining experience. Experience programming and operating CNC lathes and/or CNC mills. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints. Familiarity with G-code/M-code programming. Experience performing machine setup, tooling changes, and work offsets. Strong understanding of machining processes, feeds, speeds, and cutting tools. Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and indicators. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Mastercam, Fusion 360, GibbsCAM, CAMWorks, SolidCAM, or similar CAM software. Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing). Experience in custom job shop or precision manufacturing environments.
