The Opportunity
BioFiltro is seeking an experienced Controller to lead and scale our accounting and financial reporting function as the company grows domestically and internationally. This is a hands-on leadership role for a finance professional who thrives in a fast-growing, mission-driven environment and enjoys building strong, scalable processes.
Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will play a critical role in strengthening financial discipline, improving visibility, and supporting strategic decision making across a multi-entity, multicurrency organization.
What You’ll Do
Financial Reporting and Monthly Close
Own and continuously improve the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
Ensure timely, accurate, and GAAP-compliant financial statements
Prepare and review internal management reporting, including variance analysis and KPI dashboards
Maintain and standardize the chart of accounts across all entities
Lead consolidation across domestic and international subsidiaries
Own relationship with third party service providers
Accounting Operations
Oversee all core accounting functions including GL, AP, AR, payroll, and fixed assets
Ensure reconciliations are completed accurately and consistently
Build scalable accounting processes to support company growth
Supervise and mentor accounting staff
Internal Controls & Compliance
Design, implement, and enforce internal controls over financial reporting
Establish and document accounting policies and procedures
Ensure compliance with US GAAP, tax, and regulatory requirements
Lead audit readiness and manage external audit process
Treasury & cash management
Manage banking relationships and optimize cash positioning
Monitor debt compliance, covenants, and reporting requirements
Implement tools and processes to improve cash visibility
Strategic Finance Partnership
Partner with CFO and leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
Develop financial metrics and reporting to support operational performance
Support system implementations (ERP, reporting tools) and process improvements
Contribute to scaling infrastructure for international growth
What We’re Looking For
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
10+ years of progressive accounting experience
3+ years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role
Strong knowledge of US GAAP
Experience leading monthly close and financial reporting
Experience building or improving accounting processes and controls
Experience managing accounting teams
Preferred
CPA strongly preferred
Experience in manufacturing, environmental services, agriculture, or project-based industries
Multi-entity / multi-currency experience
Experience with ERP systems and system implementations
Prior experience in a growth-stage or scaling company
