CAD Programmer
The CAD Programmer is an experienced incumbent who provides the CNC Operators with accurate and detailed programming information to enable successful fabrication of jobs. The CAD Programmer ensures the accuracy of the layout for CNC granite jobs by setting up the cut parameters, tool path, and running simulations to determine programming accuracy. The CAD Programmer releases the detailed programming to Fabrication.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Obtain job folder (ticket) from holding rack to determine jobs to program
Use AutoCad clean up layout (delete overhang and cabinet lines)
Separate layout pieces and put on a line for squaring
Separate profile lines for diamond tool path
Sequence layers from bottom up for tool paths
Use Alpha Stone to set tool directions with tool paths from Titan machine styles
Set pods along profile of countertops for maximum vacuum and support
Turn on tool path and run cut simulations
Complete CNC communication form (green)
Put pod placement CNC communication form in plastic sheet and place on table
Open Pre-Production calendar and enter relevant job data
Open Bizops and create program event
Release programmed event to Fabrication
The CNC Granite Programmer is a position that requires a deep understanding and competency of AutoCad or other computerized design systems. The CNC Granite Programmer must be self initiated and focused. The CNC Granite Programmer must possess a high level of spatial intelligence, a critical eye to detail, have math competency, and the ability to recognize and solve problems on the fly.
The CNC Granite Programmer will receive any necessary guidance and supervision from the CNC Supervisor; especially if there is some uncertainty concerning programming specifications for a job layout. However, the expectation is that the CNC Granite Programmer is self initialized and can function independently with minimal supervision.
