This role may include performing diagnostic imaging exams, assisting with cardiac procedures, monitoring patients, operating specialized medical equipment, and collaborating with physicians and healthcare teams to ensure accurate diagnoses and quality patient care. Professionals in this field may work as Radiology Technologists, Cardiology Technologists, Cath Lab Technicians, Echo Technologists, or Cardiovascular Technologists depending on the facility and specialty area. Key Responsibilities Perform diagnostic imaging and cardiovascular procedures according to physician orders Prepare and position patients for imaging exams or cardiac testing Operate imaging and monitoring equipment including X-ray, CT, MRI, fluoroscopy, EKG, echocardiography, and cardiac catheterization systems Monitor patient condition during procedures and report abnormalities Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures Maintain accurate patient records and procedure documentation Follow radiation safety protocols and infection control standards Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of imaging and cardiac equipment Educate patients regarding procedures and post-procedure care Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care Required Qualifications Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, or related healthcare field Current applicable state licensure if required ARRT, RCIS, CCI, RDCS, or other relevant certifications depending on specialty Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification Knowledge of radiology, cardiology, anatomy, physiology, and patient care procedures Strong technical and critical thinking skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in radiology, cardiology, cath lab, echocardiography, or cardiovascular imaging ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification Experience with EPIC, Cerner, Meditech, or other EMR/EHR systems Experience in acute care or hospital settings Familiarity with interventional procedures and advanced imaging technologies Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to lift or assist patients safely Manual dexterity to operate imaging and monitoring equipment Ability to wear protective lead equipment for prolonged periods when required Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations Work Environment Radiology / Cardiology professionals may work in: Hospitals Diagnostic imaging centers Cardiac catheterization labs Outpatient clinics Emergency departments Specialty cardiovascular centers Mobile imaging units Schedules may include weekends, holidays, on-call rotations, and extended shifts.
