They own many of the most trusted brands in the air transportation industry, including LEKTRO, JetAire, JetPower, AmpTek, Jetway, and more.The Team Lead - Tractor Assembly will organize and lead day-by-hour production work activities necessary to safely manufacture products within cost constraints, without defects, and on-time while employing Relentless Continuous Improvement (RCI) techniques. The major objectives of the Team Leads include building great products on schedule, maximization of value added (productive) time of team members and implementing continuous improvement initiatives within the work centers.YOUR IMPACTWork closely collaboratively with the Senior Team Lead and manager to determine what needs to be done to overcome all constraints pertaining to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost - the primary means to measure leader performanceCollaborate on business decisions with the Senior Team Lead when the manager is absent and escalate by notifying another managers or plant manager if assistance is neededDemonstrate superior technical skills in assigned work center or departmentDelegate work to the technicians to accomplish required tasks in line with production plans & schedule requirementsMonitor team member progress on assigned tasks to ensure schedule adherence and escalate as soon as it is determined that a delay will occurProvide coaching and training to new and core team membersSupport the manager with employee relations as requiredMonitor attendance and tardiness of team members including punctuality of breaks and time away from work centersSupport administration of timecards as requiredCoordinate, develop, support and complete standard work & standard operating procedures (SOPs)Identify, elevate, and implement Opportunities for Improvement (OFIs)Coordinate and monitor pace board performance for responsible work centersCommunicate effectively with other departments within the organizationDrive root cause analysis and permanent corrective actions at GEMBA meetings: Tier I (Shift Start) and Tier II (Value Stream) level meetings, etc.Lead Tier 1 GEMBA (Shift Start) MeetingsRepresent the manager at Tier III levels and above as neededUtilize Active Management skills to balance resource needs in responsible areas and maximize contributions from team membersAdapt and respond to changing situations or circumstances by implementing temporary corrective actions to shield customers from problemsReview operating expenses and provide alternative solutions for cost savingsEnsure relentless continuous improvement is being implemented through the use of A3, Kaizen events, and other problem-solving techniquesProvide input for performance appraisals of team members as well as recognition and disciplinary actions when warrantedCommunicate and partner with other departments to eliminate waste and streamline / document processesCoach and / or mentor lesser skilled technicians on proper methods and proceduresImplement and champion 5S activities for responsible areasUnderstand ISO requirements and help maintain compliancePossess basic knowledge of Syteline (ERP systems), Microsoft office, and AdobeFollows and enforces all safety procedures according to standards. Is proactive on safety concerns and takes action when appropriateOther projects and responsibilities may be added at the company's discretionQUALIFICATIONSEducation and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalentAt least 5 years of experience in manufacturing activitiesExcellent training, communication, and organization skillsProven leadership skillsAbility to work productively and cohesively in a diverse and multicultural environmentPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in technical or business-related fields.
