Billing Assistant
Billing Assistant DSV is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Import/Export Billing Clerk to join our transportation and logistics team. The Import/Export Billing Clerk will be responsible for accurate and timely billing of import and export shipments, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, and maintaining financial records related to billing and invoicing.Duties and Responsibilities:Generate and review billing invoices for import and export shipments based on customer contracts, rates, and service agreementsEnsure accurate and timely recording of billing information, including shipment details, charges, and costs incurredVerify shipment documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and customs documents, to ensure accuracy and compliance with customer requirements and regulatory standardsCollaborate with internal teams, such as operations and customer service, to gather necessary information and resolve billing discrepancies or issuesMaintain billing records, files, and documentation in an organized manner for easy retrieval and referenceCoordinate with customers and provide billing-related support, including responding to inquiries, addressing billing disputes, and providing necessary documentationAssist with month-end and year-end closing activities, including reconciling billing records, preparing reports, and supporting financial auditsAdhere to established billing processes and procedures, ensuring compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirementsStay updated with industry regulations and best practices related to import/export billing and invoicingEducational background / Work experience:Minimum of 2 years of experience in billing or accounting, preferably in the transportation and logistics industry with a focus on import/export operationsSkills & Competencies:Strong attention to detail and accuracyExcellent organizational and time management skillsProficiency in data entry and numerical calculationsFamiliarity with billing software/systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly ExcelKnowledge of import/export processes, documentation requirements, and related regulationsBasic understanding of accounting principles and practicesExcellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with internal teams and external customersAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environmentPreferred Qualifications:Associates degree or certification in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldExperience with billing/invoicing systems, such as SAP, Oracle, or similar softwareKnowledge of customs regulations and import/export complianceFamiliarity with transportation management systems (TMS) or other logistics software related to billing/invoicingLanguage skills:Fluent in English (oral and written)Computer Literacy:Strong computer skills required, including proficiency in billing software/systems, Microsoft Office suite, and data entry.DSV is an equal employment opportunity employer. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including relevant experience, skills, education or certifications, and geographic location, consistent with applicable laws and company policy.
