This position is dedicated to addressing the unique challenges these populations face in completing their studies and aims to improve retention rates. The specialist will also assist in recruiting and retaining new students on campus, contributing to a better learning environment for all. Job Duties: Provide targeted support to minority and female students in the cybersecurity program, including academic advising, mentorship, and resources. Develop and implement retention strategies tailored to the needs of the student population, focusing on overcoming barriers to success. Assist in the recruitment of minority and female students into the cybersecurity program, working closely with the admissions office and other relevant departments. Collaborate with faculty and staff to create an inclusive educational environment that supports the academic and professional growth of all students. Assist with workshops, seminars, and events aimed at supporting student retention and success. Monitor and report on the progress of students, identifying areas for additional support and intervention. Stay informed about best practices in student retention and support, particularly for underrepresented groups in STEM fields. Other duties as needed. Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree in education, counseling, student affairs, computer science, cybersecurity or a related field or equivalent Preferred Qualifications: Background in cybersecurity or computer science is a plus. Additional Skills Requested: Experience working with minority and female students in an educational setting, preferably in higher education. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with diverse student populations. Knowledge of retention strategies and challenges faced by underrepresented groups in STEM fields. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students. Commitment to education for all.
