Package Maker Operator

Hood Industries, Inc. is a blend of wood manufacturing and distribution concerns that include plywood, lumber manufacturing plants, and twenty-three specialty wood product distribution operations. We are hiring a Package Maker Operator at our lumber mill located in Waynesboro, MS. This position is responsible for operating automated equipment to stack layers of lumber into packages. We are seeking highly performing and motivated team players to join our team and grow with us. Responsibilities: Commitment to working safely and following all company policies and procedures related to lumber mill operations. Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth workflow and efficient production. Operates stacker chain conveyor to move presorted lumber to the stacker infeed. Moves lumber over the unscrambler, using control buttons, to the pre-course make up deck, which holds requested lumber. Responsible for operating a hoist to lower packs of lumber. Responsible for straightening lumber as it moves on conveyor and ensures package quality throughout the process. Performs weekly preventative maintenance and daily standard operating procedures to keep machines functioning properly. Responsible for cleanup activities and maintaining a clean work area. Perform other duties as assigned. Education/Experience: High school diploma/GED preferred. Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Ability to operate equipment safely and responsibly. Ability to understand, clearly communicate, and follow all safety rules and policies. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Observes all safety requirements, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required. Physical Requirements: Perform tasks such as walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, grasping, and standing for up to 12 hours per day. Able to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs. Able to work in a noisy, dusty, and non-temperature-controlled environment. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. throughout the work shift.
