Claims Specialist (Public Service Career Opportunity) Social Security Administration (SSA) Location: Fort Myers, FL 3 Positions Available (1 Bilingual – English/Spanish Required) The Social Security Administration is seeking motivated, reliable individuals to join our Fort Myers field office as Claims Specialists. This is a full-time federal career position offering meaningful public service, excellent benefits, and a clearly defined career path with strong pay growth. Claims Specialists work directly with the public to explain Social Security programs, review and verify documentation, apply established laws and procedures, and assist individuals with benefit-related matters. Pay and Career Growth This position follows a structured career ladder with promotions based on successful performance. Applicants may enter at a grade higher than GS-5 based on education and experience, as determined by Human Resources. Typical career progression is: Year 1 – GS-5: approximately $40,000 per year (entry level) Year 2 – GS-7: approximately $50,000 per year Year 3 – GS-9: approximately $61,000 per year After 3 Years – GS-11: approximately $74,000 per year Once at GS-11, employees continue to receive automatic step increases, reaching approximately $97,000 per year at the highest step. Additional advancement opportunities exist within SSA at the GS-12, GS-13, and GS-14 levels, including leadership and specialist roles. Salary is based on the federal General Schedule (GS).
