## General PurposeUndergeneral supervision,participates in and monitors the daily operations atan assigned campuslibrary; interpretsand explainscomplicatedlibrary policies and procedures to students, staff, faculty and community members; provides access to and instruction inthe use ofa variety of library resources, both physical and digital;assists Librarians in overseeing the processing, organization and circulation of catalogued and non-catalogued library materials; interacts with other departments to maintain student records; selects, trainsand schedulesstudentaidesand volunteers; and performs related duties as assigned.## Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. AssistsLibrarians in overseeingthe activities of an assigned library, includingscheduling and assigning tasks tostaff,studentworkersand volunteersto maintain work flow;verifies work for accuracy, proper work methods and compliance with established library procedures and policies; assistsstaff in resolving problems encountered in the course of work. Provides lead work guidance and direction to student aides and volunteers; assigns, schedules and monitors; work for completeness, accuracy and conformance with library practices and standards; provides information, instruction and training on work procedures and technical, legal and regulatory requirements. Providesdetailed and complexassistance to patrons at the circulation desk;circulates library materials;assists patrons in the use of computers, media equipment, photocopiers and other library equipment;acceptspayments for fees and fines, posts payments, lifts holds on student records; processes lost material resolutions; generates new and maintains existing library patron records; answers phones and e-mail inquiries, directing reference and researchquestionsto the appropriate Librarian. Createsandmonitorsreports that generate library overdue notices;contacts studentsandverifiesaccounts;places school record holds as neededfor unreturned, lost or damaged library material;creates final notice billings at the end oftheterm and submits appropriate documentation to the Business Office following established procedures. Ensures that money drawers are sufficiently prepared with change each day;balances cash and fine drawersand prepares deposit forms;empties public-use copiers, printers and other equipment that require user payments andmakes periodic depositsfollowing established procedures. Coordinates and performs interlibrary/inter-facility loanprocessusing computerized library system; coordinatesreserve activities; receives, catalogs and labels new reserve items; returns items to instructors as needed. Coordinates the acquisition, organization and makingaccessible periodical print publications for the library collection. Receives and checks shipmentsof library materialsto verify they match purchase requisitions;catalogs and tags new materials; assigns and affixes bar codes/labels and other tracking items; enters materials into the computerized library system; maintains and monitors inventory control systems;orderslibrarysupplies. Maintains records of circulation, attendance, intra-library loans, periodicals, databaseusage,student hours, long-overdue fines and holds, requisitions, invoices and deposits; retrieves data for annual reports andaccreditation and program reviews; conducts research and prepares ad-hoc reports as required by Librarians. Responds to inquiries and complaints regarding complex clerical and technical library matters; explains library policies and procedures; p ovides forms to students and explains processes and requirements; answers a variety of general library procedural questions; assistsfacultyand students in locating library resources. Coordinatesmendingactivities for library; trains staff on basicmendingprocedures. Contributes tothe development and maintenance of policies and procedures for library staff and students; collaborates with the Dean, Librarians and other staff to create training materials. Demonstrates sensitivity to and understanding of historically minoritized groups and participates in professional development activities to increase cultural competency to enhance equity-minded practices within the District.Other Duties Produces newsletters, brochures, signs, handouts, graphs, displays and other documents as needed to promote or explain the use of library resources or services. Participates in the opening and closing of the library following established procedures, ensuring the safety and security of patrons. Responds to and troubleshoots user problems withcomputers,WiFi,copiers and printers, copy-card machine and other library equipment; contacts appropriate technical support personnel; reports maintenance and building issues to facilities maintenance personnel; advisessupervisor of major system problems.
