The Engineering Development Group (EDG) is a technical and leadership development program that acts as the engine to fuel talent growth at MathWorks. The role of the EDG manager is central to the success of not just the engineers, but also has a high impact on the successful and sustained growth of the company. The emphasis in this position is on managing and developing people, rather than technical work.MathWorks uses a hybrid work model, with staff members working onsite three days a week and remotely for two days.MathWorks nurtures growth, appreciates inclusivity, encourages initiative, values teamwork, shares success, and rewards excellence.ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will:Hire and lead a high performing team of engineers and computer scientists with a variety of skillsetsSupport the career growth of team members through coaching, mentoring, and feedbackEnable the team to provide high quality, specialized product support to our customers while helping the team build product expertise and customer workflow knowledgeJump in, roll up your sleeves, and take the lead to improve processesIdentify and lead projects to continually grow the scale and strategic impact of the EDG programFoster a culture of collaboration and leadershipMinimum QualificationsA bachelor's degree and 7 years of professional work experience (or equivalent experience) is required. 2 years management experience is required.Additional QualificationsBS or MS in Engineering or Computer Science required2+ years of management experience at a software company preferredCustomer facing experience (technical support, application engineering)Excellent communication skillsStrong leadership experience and passion for coaching and mentoring engineers
