Special Education Secretary

POSITION DESCRIPTION:The Special Services Secretary delivers essential administrative support for the department, including managing communications, organizing records, and assisting with daily office operations. TITLE REPORTS TO: Special Services Director COMPENSATION: $16.42 - $24.01/hourLOCATION: WHRC LENGTH OF CONTRACT: 260 Days START DATE: Upon Hire FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt DATE OF POSTING: 5/12/2026QUALIFICATIONSAssociates Degree preferred Keyboarding skills of 50 wpm; must pass online proficiency test in keyboarding, Excel, Word, and alphabetical filing.LICENSES, REGISTRATION OR CERTIFICATIONS: Criminal background check Drug screen required ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Answer telephone to provide information, take messages, or transfer calls, and arrange appointments. Handle all incoming and outgoing correspondence (including student discipline information). Compose and prepare correspondence, bulletins, memorandums, other materials and maintain appropriate files. Compile, enter, and file student grades, attendance reports, and other school records (CA-39’s, Immunization, etc.) as required. Maintain, enter, change, and update all student information as required (drops, adds, transfers, new enrollees). Assign and maintain accurate bus assignment information. Enter teacher/student schedules. Process schedule changes and reports as required. Reconcile and verify Official Count Day enrollment reports as required. Greet visitors and substitute employees to school, determine the nature of business, and direct as needed. Report attendance and payroll for all building employees and other related matters (including maintaining and recording all information pertinent to substitute employees). Assist student encountering problems and direct him/her to proper persons for resolution. Order inventory, and dispense school supplies. Create and maintain database, spreadsheet, and presentation files as required. Arrange complex and detailed travel plans and itineraries, and compile documents for travel-related meetings.Prepare and process all purchase requisitions as required. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES & REQUIREMENTS:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel.
