Machine Operator

*Overview of the Position*
Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled production tasks in a manufacturing environment. Work involves setting up the machines used, ensuring they are properly maintained, and operating them to perform a variety of functions; such as converting, printing, banding, wrapping, or forming corrugated material into finished products within the established quality, productivity, safety, and cost standards.
* *First 60 Days*: Upon the successful completion of 60 days, employees are considered for a rate increase.
* *Base Hours:* Mondays - Thursdays, 6:30am -3pm; Fridays 6:30am - 11am
* *Location:* 280 Manor Ave, Concord, NC 28025
*Essential Functions*
* Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup.
* Set up machine by typing in order to start a production cycle.
* Feed raw material into or through machines for processing on the production floor.
* Remove workpieces from production equipment.
* Conduct quality checks to ensure that boxes have required dimensions and zero print defects.
* Verify alignment of print, slots and cutting dies on machines.
* Move cutters or material manually to engage automatic feeding mechanisms.
* Observe machine operation and adjust inks while on press to ensure conformance with specified tolerances.
* Select cutting speeds, feed rates, and depths of cuts.
* Set pull wheels, print pressure and anilox pressures.
* Replace doctor blades, anvils and filters.
* Maintain a clean and organized workspace to maximize safety and productivity.
* Prepare load tags and record production output as required.
* Inspect equipment and update machine maintenance list according to mandated schedule.
* Perform related tasks as required or directed by a supervisor.
*Knowledge, Skills and Abilities*
* Knowledge of the raw materials, production processes, quality control, and costs for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods.
* Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions associated with assigned trade.
* Knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools.·
* Skill in reading manuals and following instructions.
* Skill in applying basic mathematical calculations· Ability to multitask when monitoring multiple pieces of equipment during operation to ensure quality production and minimize unplanned stops.
* Ability to problem solve and trouble shoot in an efficient manner as issues with machines arise.
* Ability to estimate needed materials and time required for various jobs.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other plant staff, salesforce, vendors and customers.
* Ability to work independently.
* Ability to work effectively under pressure.
*Qualifications*
* Be at least 18 years of age.
* Possess High School Diploma or equivalent.
* 1-2 years of experience in a related role.
* Detail-oriented, motivational team player
* Must pass pre-employment drug testing and background search
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
