PCB Engineer (Schematic Design)

Mentor Pads or Expedition Pads schematic design expertise for PCB Design.Job SummaryThe Engineer role focuses on designing and developing logic and control circuits for embedded circuit boards. Responsibilities include schematic capture, PCB layout collaboration with vendors, prototyping, testing, and debugging to deliver reliable electronic products. The engineer will create new designs or modify existing ones to meet requirements and ensure compliance. The role requires initiative, minimal supervision, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams, with clear communication of technical matters to stakeholders.Duties and ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop analog/digital circuit schematics using Mentor PADSSelect components based on requirements, cost, and availabilityMaintain technical documentation (BOMs, schematics, test reports, revisions)Collaborate with PCB layout engineers on signal integrity, thermal performance, manufacturabilityDevelop test procedures and validate performance via simulation, prototyping, lab testingWork with firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing teams for integrationSupport board bring-up, debugging, and validation throughout developmentReport project progress to managementInterface with vendors and manufacturers for PCB fabrication/assemblyTest systems and make design changes as neededTroubleshoot circuit-level and system-level issuesTravel up to 10%Required Skills and AbilitiesProficiency in Mentor PADS and SAPStrong knowledge of components, circuit theory, signal processing, power systemsHands-on experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, etc.Familiarity with high-speed digital, power management, mixed-signal circuits (plus)Knowledge of standards: NFPA, NEC, UL/cUL, CSA, IEC/CEWillingness to learn new technologiesStrong communication and collaboration skillsExperience in multi-functional teamsProven PCB design experienceEducation and Experience QualificationsBS degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or similar
