Minimal travel is required.Job Description:The Bioinformatics JAVADeveloper will be involved in converting existing Perl CGI applications to Java Web Services. You will be working with a team to develop and implement an enterprise information management system in a Pharmaceutical environment.Develop code using Perl CGI and JAVAWrite and perform Unit TestsWrite periodic status / progress reportsDevelop simple or complex software functionality but with limited scopeParticipate in peer reviews of code for coding standards, best practices, functionality, error handling, etc.Write basic SQL queries using relational database concepts and schema design principlesDevelop simple or complex, dynamic reportsBreak complex processes into smaller achievable piecesIntegrate scientific applications with other scientific or non-scientific applicationsDesign and develop reusable utility/library software for general useEngineer designs that satisfy current requirements and are extensible for future enhancement while keeping it cost effective for clientsDevelop very complex / challenging algorithms and software designs having large project scope or large scalePerform architectural code and design evaluationsWrite system interfaces using pre-existing middlewarePerform simple or complex database optimizationQualificationsMinimum Qualifications:Experience using JAVA and Perl CGI - a must4 Year degree in an applicable fieldExcellent written and verbal communications skillsExcellent organizational skillsStrong logical / analytical thinkingAbility to troubleshoot and solve problemsAt least 4 years of experience in ELN Development5-8 years of software development experience in Laboratory Informatics projects5-8 years of experience working in regulated environmentsTravel requirement: The job location is in the San Francisco Bay area.
